    Joining the Partnership

    Complete leadership and school responsibility

The partnership can provide leadership for the school by creating a Head of School (HOS) role who is then supported by the Executive Headteacher (EHT). The HOS could be an existing member of staff, or the partnership can provide an Interim HOS whilst the school undertakes a recruitment process and appoints its own substantive HOS. The EHT will remain as the named Headteacher. The cost of this support is calculated by paying a percentage of the EHT costs based on pupil numbers, or 3% of Budget share, whichever is greater.

The cost of this support is calculated by paying a % of the EHT costs based on pupil numbers, or 3% of Budget share, whichever is greater.  These costs when compared to recruiting own Headteacher, equate to approx. £5k more in year 1 but are comparable in Year 3 (given that HOS salary range is lower than the HT salary range).

The legal framework to join the collaboration has been constructed with support from Governor Services, Education Personnel Services, Hampshire Legal, HIAS and the Diocese. Each school within the Partnership must sign a membership agreement outlining what they will receive for the support they require and the associated cost. Each school also needs to elect two Governors to join the Collaboration Committee. This Committee meets termly to oversee the strategic leadership of the Partnership. It does not take on any of the individual schools Governing Board responsibilities.

The school at any point could decide to advertise and appoint their own HT rather than HOS. In this case the Partnership could offer Consultancy support if needed or completely remove all EHT support.
